Hitting the Pier
It’s Pride 2013 week in NYC and it’s going to be another extremely hot day on Christopher Street. Because of this, today’s sampling location is dedicated to the sunbathers that line the length of Christopher Street Pier. Yes, today’s free fragrance sampling location is Hudson River Park Pier 45. Join me from 2pm – 5pm (or until I run out of samples) to pick up a free vial of Christopher Street.
About Pier 45
Reopened in 2003, Pier 45 extends 800 feet into the Hudson and features a sunbathing lawn, wooden boardwalks, open shade structures, seating areas, sun decks and plantings (and now a piano as well). It also is home to a water taxi stop on the south side near its bulkhead .
The Hudson waterfront has played an important role in New York City history since the arrival of the Dutch in 1624. Until the Hudson River Park revitalization project, most of the pier’s usage was for commercial purposes. Hence, the trucks that used to line West Street and play home to the dirty deeds of the Christopher Street “truck stop boys.” Today it has transformed into one of the most popular places along the Hudson River to sit and catch some rays (so don’t forget the sunblock).
See you today at Hudson River Park Pier 45 (access at Christopher Street crossing of West Side Highway) from 2pm – 5pm.
And be sure to check back tomorrow for what is sure to be an exciting day (good or bad) as the US Supreme Court has announced they will be releasing verdicts on both the DOMA case and Prop 8 case tomorrow morning. Events are being planned in accordance across New York City.
Happy Christopher Street Pride 2013.
